How a no-account invoice tool actually works

There is no signup because there is no server-side account to sign into. The invoice editor, the calculations and the PDF export all run as JavaScript inside your browser tab, the same way a spreadsheet runs on your desktop.

While you are working, the draft is held in your browser's local storage so a refresh or an accidental tab close does not lose it. That storage belongs to your browser on your device — it is not synced anywhere and no one else can read it.

When you press download, the PDF is assembled in the page and handed to your browser's normal download mechanism. The document never travels over the network to us.

What you give up, and what you gain

Being honest about the trade-off matters more than selling the benefit. Because there is no account, there is no cross-device sync, no shared team history, no automatic payment reminders and no client portal. If you need those, a hosted invoicing service is the right tool.

What you gain is speed and privacy. There is nothing to verify, no card on file, no marketing sequence, and your client and pricing data never leaves your machine. For freelancers and small operators sending a handful of invoices a month, that is usually the better bargain.

  • No email verification or password to manage
  • No per-invoice limits, paywalls or watermarks
  • Client names, rates and totals stay on your device
  • Works offline after the first visit
  • No sync across devices — you manage your own copies

Keeping your own records without an account

Since nothing is stored for you, your record-keeping is the exported files. Save each finished PDF into a dated folder as you go, and name files with the invoice number so they sort correctly.

The tool also has JSON export and import. Exporting an invoice gives you a small file that restores every field — including the design template and the signature block — on any device or browser. That is the practical way to move a draft between your laptop and another machine, or to keep a reusable starting point for a repeat client.

Treat browser storage as a scratchpad, not an archive. Clearing site data, using a private window or switching browsers will remove drafts.

A worked example

Example: a first invoice created in under two minutes

Example: a first invoice created in under two minutes
StepWhat you enterTime
1. Your detailsBusiness name, address, contact, tax number if you have one~40 sec
2. Client and datesClient name, invoice number, issue date, due date~30 sec
3. Line itemsOne row per service with quantity and rate; totals calculate as you type~30 sec
4. ExportChoose a template and download the PDF~5 sec

Your details carry over to the next invoice from the saved draft, so the second invoice takes about a third of the time.

Questions people ask

Is my invoice data stored on your servers?

No. Drafts live in your own browser's local storage and the PDF is generated in the page. Nothing about your invoice — client names, rates, totals or attachments — is transmitted to us.

What happens to my draft if I clear my browser?

It is deleted, because that storage is the only copy. Export the PDF for your records, and use the JSON export if you want a restorable copy of the editable invoice.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Yes, but drafts do not sync. Export the invoice as JSON on one device and import it on the other to move an in-progress invoice across.

Is there a limit on how many invoices I can make?

No. There is no per-invoice charge, no monthly cap and no watermark on the exported PDF.
